History of HfKNH
HfKNH sees itself as the successor of the Foundation "Kindernothilfe Heidelberg (KiN)" (Children in Need, Heidelberg).
KiN was established in the 1990s by the catholic parish of St. Bonifaz, Heidelberg spearheaded by the then city-parish priest Ludwig Bopp
and Prof Dr.Dr. Hartmut Schiedermair, both remained Honorary Chairmen of HfKNH until they passed away in 2020 and 2021. KiN supported the Fatima Center, a school in Iriga City , Philippines and Children's Home San Vicente in Mexico-City, Mexiko. Since 1998 the Hydrocephalus Initiative for Manila was included in the program of assistance. Due to the ageing of the Board members KiN had to be closed down formally in early 2018. For the Fatima Center and the San Vicente Home welfare organsations could be identified to take over those two projects, unfortunateyl no organisation could be found for the Hydrocephalus Project.
To continue with the Hydrocephalus Project, a successor group on 26 October 2017 created the new Foundation under the name "Help for Children in Need, Heidelberg (HfKNH)".
Since 26 March 2018 HfKNH is listed in the Register of the Municipal Court at Mannheim as a social non-profit organsation (NGO).
